When You Look in the Mirror
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. - Psalm 139:14
Imagine David in this passage. He’s pondering himself - his body, his personality, his life story… and he’s realizing that God’s fingerprints are all over him. So he breaks out in worship!
What’s it like for you to look in the mirror like David? Do you come away praising God… or judging yourself for how you look or because the the sense of not matching up to some (unrealistic) ideal?
Brenna shared in the sermon one of the simple practices that she has developed to help her look for the goodness in herself that God has put there. Each morning as she goes to her closet, instead of judging herself for what she looks like or wears or anything else, she looks at a picture she put there to remind her of how Jesus sees her. That picture is HERE.
What is the Spirit saying to you? Are there ways you could make the practices of King David or Brenna Rubio your own today?
