Blessed are those who Hunger for Justice

These words were shared by our elder, Lisa Carpenter, on Sunday. Let them in and embrace Jesus’s favor. These words are a way to listen to the heart of Jesus who gave this blessing:

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness; you will be satisfied. - Matthew 5:6

“I’d like to bless those who long for a better world, one filled with justice. In fact, sometimes the word for righteousness is translated ‘justice.’ So in this moment I want to bless those who yearn for justice. As elders of City Church, We want to recognize the countless, unseen battles that so many of you are fighting. Battles that cry out, “Black lives matter!”, “Immigrants and refugees are welcome,” that “love is love,” that environmental justice is social justice, and that your economic status doesn’t correlate to your worth. Jesus blesses you. You are seen. You are beloved, you are bold and courageous, and Jesus honors you for your unquenchable passion for justice.” - Lisa Carpenter, City Church Elder
