Blessed are those who Mourn

Meghan Williams, another one of our elders, spoke this blessing over us on Sunday. Can you resonate with it?

"You are blessed when you feel you've lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you."  -Matthew 5:4, The Message

City Church friends, I echo the words of Jesus today when He acknowledges those of us who grieve. He has good news for us today, as you find yourself grieving the losses we have faced this year. He knows what it is like to mourn and He wants to offer His embrace.

So I give you these words as a fellow human in mourning: your grief and loss matter.

Jesus invites you to actually mourn the losses both big and small: people dear to you, connection, job security, graduations and school, and the experiences you were looking forward to. So that you may find the comfort you need.

I see you. Jesus sees you. Your church sees you. Walk in that blessing today.
