Flourishing and Loving
(Did you ask someone to pray for you like we talked about yesterday? If not, it’s not too late!)
Today we’re going to look at the same simple verse. Read it over a couple of times. Maybe even think about memorizing it or writing it on a post-it note to see later today.
So this is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much but well. - Philippians 1:9 The Message
Paul mentions that he prays that his friends would flourish. And note that the flourishing comes before the loving well. Let’s give some space for our sanctified imagination to play with that ordering…
What does it mean to flourish?
When, in recent memory, would you say you were flourishing? What were the components that led to your flourishing?
Do we need to flourish in order to become the kind of people who love well? If so, why is that? If not, is there some other relationship between flourishing and loving well?
See if you can take your thoughts and weave them together in a sentence or two of prayer to the Great Lover.
